Blandy-les-Tours belongs to the "Destination des trois châteaux", along with two exceptional castles : the castle of Fontainebleau and the castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte. This programme invites you to travel throughout nearly ten centuries of history by visiting these three exceptional monuments located in the south of Seine-et-Marne.
Walk through the rooms and the vast park of one of the most prestigious royal homes. Its occupants, from François Ier to Napoléon III, contributed in making the castle of Fontainebleau a hotspot of French history. Moreover, you will discover an important collection of ancient furniture as well as an exceptional selection of paintings, sculptures and art objects dated from the 16th to the 19th century.
The castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte owes its reputation to its builder, Nicolas Fouquet, superintendant of finance of King Louis XIV, then condemned for embezzlement and crime of lese-majesty. The latter called on the best artists of the time : Lebrun, Le Nôtre and Le Vau. The splendours of Vaux-le-Vicomte, real masterpiece of architecture and 17th century decoration, prefigure the construction of the castle of Versailles.
During your visit, you will be able to discover the dome and its wooden framework restored in 2012, and enjoy an unforgettable view, from the lantern tower, on the French gardens designed by Le Nôtre.
The castle of Blandy-les-Tours is located in the heart of a typical village in the Brie countryside. Wander through the old streets, discover the apple grinder; the Saint-Maurice church or the lavoir; then go down to the ru d’Ancoeur (stream) which weaves through bucolic scenery.
Near the village of Blandy-les-Tours, the collegiate church Saint-Martin of Champeaux, built between the 12th and the 14th century, is one of the biggest gothic churches of the Île-de-France region. The particularity of this religious building is its surprising fortification (parapet walk, loopholes). Yet, the interior gives way to a fine and elegant architecture which lends itself to meditation and contemplation.
